Through barroom-stomping, Motown-inspired soul (“In The Middle Of The Night”), fiddle and mandolin-heavy Americana twang ("HoneyBee"), to tender tear-jerkers (“Raining In Nashville”) and the guitar-centric rush of the title track, Sobral’s latest album is the perfect example of the diverse sounds and styles so often found within his songs. With Second Arrow, you get the feeling that Sobral is building a body of work that will bring a much-needed sense of joy, a raucous celebration, and a kind of healing to his listeners that only music of this caliber can induce.
“Second Arrow is a reference to a Buddhist parable,” Sobral explains. “If someone does you harm, that’s the first arrow; but dwelling on it, that’s you causing yourself the next wave of suffering. The ‘second arrow’ is the arrow that you fire upon yourself.”
